I just learned of the Black Lodge Singers yesterday, hearing "Flintstones" and "Mighty Mouse." I am not sure I am up to hearing "Good Times" yet, I may need to space these out to twice a week. I do enjoy the "Flintstones," good to sing "Yabba Dabba Doo" at a pow wow...

Very funny song! My husband bought a pair of new shoes a few years ago that made him sound like Squidward walking when he walked in them--much to the delight of our young nieces and nephews who thought they were the best shoes ever.

Thanks for sharing the Black Lodge recording. This is the best thing since they sang about Mickey Mouse (and Pluto, too!). :)

on another note, I just woke from a dream where you, Mr. Alexie, were a concert pianist. You'd just finished a piece filled with angst, peace, legato passages and gymnastic scherzos.
You finished to great applause, looked down at your hands, surprised maybe at what they just accomplished, and thought, 'wow, ain't that something -- I can play piano.'

I have two of your books in audio format. You and Adam Beach are amazing! I'm not sure if I'll pre-order the new book. I waiting to see if you'll be stopping by UNLV on your book tour.

Sherman, I found you on Audible. I don't think I could read one of your books as your voice reading is electricity. So, for the new work, I hope you get it recorded ASAP.

I want to join the cartoon army and run along the beach in slow motion with Bugs Bunny,Bart Simpson, Ren and Stympy, (heh heh heh heh) Butthead, and the Tasmanian Devil and singing the Indian Rock Star Sponge Bob Square Pants get in shape song (but only if we can kick sand in the face, just once, of the animated french fries on Adult Swim, whose post-postmodern-posturing utter randomness creeps me out)...!!!
YEY INDIAN ROCK STARS!!!! It is your world and we are just living in it.

But have they mastered the purple dinosaur's anthem? Fifteen years and counting and I can still sing the whole thing. "I love you. You love me. Let's go on a killing spree...." Black Lodge Singers, please purge the horrific memories. I'm begging here.

My eight year old son and I get into philosophical arguments over Sponge Bob all the time. He loves that show and I feel as if I have somehow taken a wrong turn in my parenting. I tried to introduce him early on in his development to Looney Tunes, The Muppets, Fraggle Rock, Tiny Toons, Pinky and the Brain, etc....all the good stuff. Yet he insists we watch this cartoon everyday. That song doesn't just get stuck in my head. It's been tattooed there. Like the Brady Bunch song. However, unlike the Brady Bunch, I hate the Sponge Bob song. I hate that I know it by heart. That being said, my position stated very clearly, I really love this version. I even listened to it twice. But don't tell my kid.
